Introducing the Green Opal Beaded Necklace, with Karen Hill Tribe silver pendant, a delicate and soulful piece from the Earth & Light collection. Handcrafted with serene Green Opal beads, this necklace embodies natural beauty, offering a connection to nature's healing energies. Pendant: Karen Hill Tribe Ethnic Pendant 29x24.5x8.5mm. Artisan Handmade.
The beads are attached to a silver (not sterling) chain. I was inspired to make this design because I like to mix beads with chain, and the pendant has been waiting for me to do something with it that would help it stand out.

Difference between Australian Opals and Green Opals
1. Green Opal:
- Appearance: Green Opal is often a softer, translucent green stone with a more muted and earthy tone. It’s known for its calming, pastel green hues, which can range from pale mint to deeper forest greens. It typically has a smooth, matte finish and doesn’t display the intense play-of-colour (rainbow flashes) that Australian Opals are known for.
- Composition: Green Opal, like other opals, is made up of hydrated silica, but it generally has a higher content of minerals like magnesium, iron, or other elements that influence its green colour.
- Origin: Green Opal is often found in various parts of the world, including Mexico, Peru, and the United States, though it’s not as widely recognized as Australian Opal.
2. Australian Opals:
- Appearance: Australian Opals, particularly the famous Opal from Coober Pedy and Lightning Ridge, are known for their vibrant play-of-colour. These opals can display a stunning array of colours, such as reds, blues, greens, and purples, which shimmer and change depending on the angle of the light. They are often cut into cabochons or polished stones to highlight their colours.
- Composition: Australian Opals are typically composed of silica, but they have a unique internal structure that allows them to display that famous "play-of-colour," which is a result of the way light refracts within the stone.
- Origin: Australia is the world’s leading source of high-quality opals. The majority of precious opals, particularly the vibrant, colour-shifting varieties, come from regions like Lightning Ridge, Coober Pedy, and Andamooka.
Please note crystals do vary in size and colours and therefore the photos on this site may not be the exact shade of the crystal. Once an item is sold I remake another to have in stock and update the photo to try and match the crystals as close as possible to the photo.
